Angela Evelyn Bassett is an American actor from the United States. Known for her work in film and television in the 1980s, she's been awarded numerous awards like two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was raised by her aunt in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Her birthplace was and raised at home in New York New York. When Bassett was around five She and her sister were moved from the city of St. Petersburg, Florida to live with their mother, who was divorced from their father.
