Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory was of discovering an instrument in her attic and being awed by the sounds it would create. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. He urged her not to do music just to have fun or to aid in development but instead, she must explore it. This led to her began to write her own music. As well as Bjork, she cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. Responding to her mother's suggestion that she ought not to aim to become famous with their songwriting skills, she instead be aware of the significance of them and their impact on society. When she was six she started playing the piano and at nine, started writing songs. She didn't tell her family about her musical journey until she was fourteen. Aurora has never imagined being famous. Her only passion is to write music. For her, music is the only method to experience anything.
