Her name was also recognized via a blog post from Katy Perry where Perry endorsed the song Runaway. Make it a special day for her. Aurora Aksnes' first musical moment was when she stumbled across a miniature piano that was in her basement, and becoming enthralled by the sounds it created. Parents May-Britt and Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to pursue music not as an occupation or pastime but for growth. The singer began to write songs of her own. Her sources include noted writers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in addition to her affinity with Bjork's style. Her mother encouraged her to perform her songs in public, not so that she could achieve fame, but rather in order to show others the importance of their work and what they can do for humanity. Her mother suggested that she perform her songs publicly to help people realize their own importance and how they could impact the world. Her family didn't be aware of this until she reached the age of 14. Aurora's accomplishments were never her goal. The singer says that she simply likes writing music. For her music, it is the most efficient method of expressing anything.
